The Richmond R-XVI School District is seeking applications for a Speech/Language Pathologist for the 2018-2019 school year.  

 

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in job-related area, required
  • Speech Language Pathologist Missouri certification, required

Summary:

 

The Speech and Language Pathologist will identify and serve students with disabilities in the area of communication; plan and implement appropriate treatment to help with minimizing adverse educational impact; and keep accurate records of therapy and student progress.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ communication skills for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and develop recommendations for treatment.
  • Provide speech and language therapy to students for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on the student’s educational environment.
  • Provide speech and language therapy both in the regular education classroom and in separate special education classes or settings.
  • Communicate and collaborate with special education teachers, regular education teachers and principal regarding the educational needs and programs of students with communicative disorders.
  • Maintain records regarding individual student progress toward IEP goals and objectives, services and accommodations provided, parent contacts, notices and other documentation as required by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) regulations, the Director of Special Services or the school principal.
  • Participate in student eligibility evaluations and re-evaluations.
  • Initiate communication with parents of students with disabilities on a regular basis.
  • Use technology effectively to implement instruction and to manage documentation requirements.
  • Complete all required forms for Medicaid billing.  Maintain logs on each student serviced and submit logs on Medicaid students to the Director of Special Services.
  • Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills.
  • Comply with good safety practices.
  • Comply with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Other duties/responsibilities deemed necessary may be assigned.

Richmond is located approximately 45 miles northeast of Downtown Kansas City, MO with just under 6,000 residents and a PreK-12 population of approximately 1500.
